I am primarily of German and Filipino descent. I was born in Manila, grew up in Saudi Arabia, spent several years in Australia before returning to my roots in 2010.
geez, you are definitely hyper..or on drugs..haha!
well, i would appreciate it if ppl would watch out and see how they are treating animals..i mean, what if it's the other way round (yeah, i know it sounds silly..^-^) we prefer if someone treat us, humans, in a good way, aight? and i think that animals should be treated not like shit or anything.. after all, they are also living creatures like our human kind..so why maltreat them..?
oh dear, i have to say this, 5 years ago, i watched a documentary..dunno about what.. but i can still remember a very disgusting scene, and i gonna share it with y'all: there was this really big cage full of pussy cats, then one guy put that cage in a huge pot with boiling water..then after how many minutes he put out again, then i saw that some pussycats aren't dead yet, they were still meowing..@_@ you know how horrible that is?! i almost had a trauma, when i saw that docu..@_@
sorry zoro, if i write such awful things.. and i'm also optimistic like you, yeah, the glass is half full and not half empty, but you can't deny the reality, you have to face it sometimes, dude..;)
No, go ahead Aloha_May, tell the world! I got into the whole animal rights thing when i did a philosophy assignment on it...and the things i found absolutely sickened me, which is why i'm vegetarian now (somewhat...i'm forced to eat fish at times, happens when you're a student and live with ur parents) i mean, it seems to cruel and so wrong to think...that those animals in the slaughter houses...that their one purpose in life is to be killed and eaten by humans...life is so much more precious than that...they're like prisoners on death row...only that there's no real legitimate reason for their killing...and argue this with me as much as you want, this my field and i know how to wing it.
hoo, chio you a veggie? for real? kewl, cuzzy fussy!! ;) anyway, i tried to be a veggie too, but somehow ma mom convinced me to eat meat, but i ONLY eat chicken and fish (yum yum..), don't like beef or pork.. it's really cool that you are a veggie..^-^ hope you are also in good health coz i've got a friend ova here, and it seems to me that it isn't good for her to be a vegetarian, coz she have to take some pills, oh yesh, like magnesium and iron pills and so on and on..it is like waaaaaaahh..@_@ she got weaker, her immune system isn't that stable at all, she gets sick very often..and i tried to talk to her and convince her to eat some meat..and HOO i really convinced her :D *pats her shoulder with full of pride..lol* i guess not every person can be a veggie..like in this case..
VEGGIES RULEZ and soya, fish and chicken too..! ^__^
aww..back to da topic.. isn't yucky that people (in china for example) eat some pets, like dogs or cats? or those peeps who eat insects..@_@ snake, reptiles..ahhhhhhh..i guess i gonna vomite..+_+
well, it's a proven fact that meat has only a few essentials that the human body requires that are very EASILY replaced with soy products and other various legumes. don't believe me? look it up. i have two veggie friends and they are just fine, and i have gone for a year and 14 days without a single ailment so there you go. so I am sorry to inform you zoro that you will not shrivel up and die if you go without meat for a while, providing you eat a decent amount of veggies and such (meaning vegitables not vegitarians in this context)
and yes, aloha_may i am very aware of what is done in other cultures. ^^;
oh you can bet your watchamacallit that i'm gonna argue this one out! You're goin' down zoro!
Confirmed meat-eaters very often dismiss vegitarianism in the way you have just done but it is also fact that an overly emphasised focus on meat during mealtimes i an unhealthy balance in any diet.
The key to leading a healthy vegetarian life is to have VARIETY, including lots of different foods instead of just going out to hunt meat 'substitutes', foods such as: grains, pulses, vegetables, fruit, eggs ans dairy products (unless vegan).
food made from grains: pasta, bread, wholegrain breakfast cereals
grains are what you're supposed to eat most of alongside fruit and veggies.
dairy products, pulses (peas, beans of all kinds and lentils), nuts and eggs are meant to be eaten in moderation.
And of course the sweets and such are meant to be eaten least (e.g. sugar, honey, butter, cream, margarine, oils, alcohol, tea, coffee)
quite a number of the aforementioned foods have complex carbohydrates that allows energy from sugars to be used by the body at an even rate, whilst refined sugars enter the bloodstream rapidly and are very quickly used.
and most importantly of all there is no known animal product whatsoever that comes with the very essential FIBRE that our body needs.
Beat that zoro.
Disclaimer: my main source of info has come from 'the essential vegitarian cookbook' and is in no way my own work so no one sue me cuz i'm broke anyway.
Okay, the term 'equality' is in fact very loosely used, as we speak of equality between men and women when logically, it is impossible for men and women to be equal and i'm not saying that one gender is better than the other.
Example: A woman has the right to abortion whilst a man does not. Why is that so? Because a man cannot have an abortion and the right, hence, does not apply to him.
The same goes for animals and humans (animal is another loose term since homo sapiens are animals too) when speaking of equality between the two 'races' one can say that a goldfish will have the right to vote since a goldfish doesn't understand squat about politics.
heh heh ^^ while I am flattered that you 'adore' me for it, I know you too well, so I know that you most likely mean the word 'admire' check the meaning for both words ^^;
think of the colour magenta it supposedly helps headaches some kinda colour therapy thingy...
anyway, yeah i'm totally against the fur thing, i mean for those people who can't live without it, it may be tacky but go with the faux fur instead, you wouldn't wear your pet around your shoulders now would you?
that's the point! No normal person would wear a cat or a dog so why wear any other animal when there is no difference! Fur is Fur, cat, dog, guinea pig or Mink...
One of the more recent publicised Animal Rights events is the whole 'Japanese Whaling' Issue...I for one think that whales are beautiful creatures and shouldn't be killed...they claim it's for science but I somehow find that hard to believe...the only people in this world allowed to hunt the whales are the Inuit tribes as this is crucial to their survival and they are not over-hunting either...
I know...it's really tough...but in a way...maybe better than letting the animal suffer longer...it should be put out of its misery 'humanely' if possible...there just are things that can't be prevented...
Hey, this is about a case I saw on television some time ago and it really disgusts me to think how far some people will go to use animals for their own selfish needs...and I mean REALLY selfish needs...
You know, how animals travel on planes right? They are given soemthing to sleep and they travel together with the cargo. Well one day at the airport, a plane arrived and a dog was part of the cargo but nobody claimed her...so she was there for hours with some of the officer-people...until one of them noticed that the dog wasn't looking too good, so he took her to the vet and she was x-rayed...and it turned out that someone had surgically implanted something into the dog...an operation was performed at once...and do you know what some sick bastard had SURGICALLY IMPLANTED into the dog?! DRUGS! Cocaine! And lots of it! So, the police got involved and once a guy showed up for the dog, he was arrested...the officer who had brought the dog to the vet decided to adopt her, so the dog got to a good home after surviving such a nightmare...she was one of the lucky ones...there are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of animals abused every day...it's sad it really is...
eh...zoro, freaks and psychoes exist all over the world...heck there even are a couple at my school who I will not mention...
It just depends how much the media is willing to publicise the freaks. Plus, what we see in the media is mostly tainted/biased info, so you can never be too sure just what is fact and fiction...
yep, very true, but that organization called "vier pfoten" is ONLY active during x-mas..i guess..anyway..i watched a documentary bout eh..those african peeps living in remote places, hunting gorillas, apes and eat them afterwards or sell them though it's illegal..>_<' it's sooooooo yucky..i mean, who in the whole wide world would eat monkeys?????????????????????? @_@ that's soo disgusting..*throws*
well not really...in a way it would be cruel to deprive them of their natural habitat...their home...if I didn't care about that I'd love to have a tiger or a wolf or something...maybe a wolf, a tiger's too big..although the other day I saw the most kawaii tortoise on Animal Planet found somewhere in Africa...it was tiny! Slightly smaller than the palm of ur hand...

Wow, I didn't think you knew about that...yes, onions provide protection from several 'bad' supernatural things...when plagued with disease-demons for example, you take an onion cut it in half and set it on top of a glass of water and set it by your bedside...but the onions must never be eaten as they absorb all this negative kind of energy and becomes POISONOUS must not be thrown out but BURNED, the same applies to any garlic you may have used to repel vampires ^^

The reason why there are no (immediate) side effects when converting to being a vegeterian is that the body has a huge 'safe deposit' of that vitamin and can therefore do without it for years. Eventually, however, side effects will kick in if that deposit is not filled again.
My source of information is a recently published book, I found in the school-library

I wrote an essay on animal rights last year, and I did some very extensive research on that...and I wrote a lengthy passage on hinduism AND I studied a variety of different religions as part of another school subject, and yes, as is commonly known, Hindus view cows as sacred BUT if this is all you have to say zoro, then your argument is very weak indeed.
Hinduism resides on respecting ALL forms of life. It is true however that vegetarianism or veganism is not mandatory, it is highly reccomended and a high number choose to follow this.

Well, Hindus believe in the concept of Nirvana and re-birth, they believe that one is reborn over and over again, until one has attained the level of purity to reach Nirvana, and the thing is, one may be born in the form of an animal.
So, from their point of view, it could be a disturbing thing to eat meat, when it could have been someone they knew, reborn into that animal!
Cows are held sacred because they symbolize one of the most benevolent creatures known, they are not actually worshipped if that is what you thought...
Although it is not only in Hinduism, where the practise of not eating meat is common, there exist other less known religions as well, a whole branch of my grandmother's family do not eat meat because of their religious beliefs...and my family comes in large packages...let's say I have about 31 first cousins alone...and my grandmother's extended family is not any smaller.

Eggs and dairy products (I'm not vegan)
Here's an interesting fact:
2/3 of the world do NOT eat meat
which means that meat-eaters are the minority
and do not automatically assume that it's mainly those in the third world countries, for most it is a RELIGIOUS choice, such as 'Hinduism'.
I highly doubt that as well. I just read that the meat-eaters on this planet make up more than 90% of this earth's population.

as you said, it is advisable to look into a variety of sources... one recently published book won't prove that this is a fact.
Earth is big and so is it's human population.
I don't get my information from just one source, are you going to start being like my teacher and request in-text referencing? Fine, I'll give you the pages of the Encylcopaedia that I looked up, some internet sites, and yes more books, once I have the time.

fine by me.
